Able also do a recovering service. You just need to send hammers away to them a lot easier than putting new heads on if you've never done it before. Re: Location of serial number - Phillips, Cambridge & Co upright

The serial number, if there is one, may be on the soundboard or on the keybed or the keys; quite often, retailers used to remove them if they weren't stamped in. Cambridge & Co. was established in 1902. in NY however the one you have is a stencil piano so probably won't have a serial number. The...

Re: Odd sounding f on the break where 3 meets 2 strings

All hammers should be set so they kill seventh harmonic that can vary, just fractionally on the same model depending how the bridges have been carved. Modern pianos do tend to be cut with CC Machines but Pianos from the 70s and 80s were hand-carved. So setting the hammer height was rule of thumb not...

Play the notes chromatically open down and harder.
On a lot of 70s Pianos the change over from the steels to the base is very difficult to hide quite often the soundboard crown is going in that area.

You could go the old-school route, with a bucket of water inside a container, at least a litre.

Or fit a lifesaver. You said the piano is in the studio is that a studio full of electronics if so then dryness will be your problem.

Most manufacturers recommend between 40 and 65, but good luck achieving that in the UK. Most homes in the north of England tend to be 55 to 80

The more consistent the room humidity is, the longer the piano will stay in tune

It's one of 3 things: the springs are grating on the dumper bodies, But the dump lift rail brackets in the bass section is creaking. or it's a simple fix: the pedal push rod is grating in the dumper lift rail. I'm sorry but the answer from Yamaha is a copout. Both can be fixed by your tuner. Barrie

If it's very loose I get a cocktail stick and put an off cut of the cloth in the hole after the drops of super glue,
