Yes, I think I'll go back to the supplier - he might have an alternative repairer we can use, and I'll take it from there.

Thanks for that tip, I'm hoping though it won't have to come to that. I'm still interested to know if it's safe enough to open the base of the keyboard - there's a row of 8 crosshead screws along the front edge of the underside, is this all that's needed to open it up?
