Quinie, Slack tuning pins are, unfortunately all too common in older pianos that have been kept in centrally heated rooms. Bill, Thanks for the prompt and informative reply. Do you think that Brietmann may have been the name of the retailer that originally sold it? Hi,
I wondered if you could help trace the ancestry of my piano!
Piano pics
I bought it around 1975 from a restorer. There are serial nos on the piano itself (K58716) and the harp (58716).

Could anyone advise on whether I can improve the sound of my piano by working on the hammers (e.g. sanding, toning)? Alternatively what does it cost for new hammers (assuming I will fit them myself)?
