Re: Kawai RX2: New or secondhand?

Congrats!

You will own a kawai RX 2 soon!

Good purchase! Great piano....

My teacher has had her Kawai KC3 for 35 years and never had a problem, all the parts are still original and it plays and sounds like a sunshine!

Re: Kawai RX2: New or secondhand?

5 year is normal, any problems that you could encounter will come out int his time anyway. You will have a better deal you stay within the budget but the big question is, have you played the new Kawai and how does it compare to the second hand one. You are now buying as a rational buyer, you must al...

Re: Kawai RX2: New or secondhand?

Great I could be of help. Piano buying is daunting.... The breaking in period depends on how much you play a day. It will be six months to a year with 1 to 2 hour a day of use. Try to get a longer warranty, if the dealer does not want to give it that would be strange, maybe that should be a warning....

Re: Kawai RX2: New or secondhand?

Hi there, A call to Kawai UK should answer your question about the warranty. If it is a reputable dealer the will give you warranty for at least 5 years. I bought a 5 year old Schimmel K189 grand a few months ago and the dealer gave me 10 years warranty, everything is negotiable! In favor of second ...

Re: Craft of Pinao

I have his DVD, he is a great player with great techniques, but for me as I am an amateur it makes it all very complicated.
I do try to stay relaxed and have the natural arch in my hands, this to avoid injuries.

Re: top notes & yamaha C1

It seems to me that your piano just needs a bit of voicing, this will make the sound more even, it is normal for pianos to have that. Mine did, the tech fixed it in a few minutes. The last 5 keys are always like that, I have tried many grand pianos over the last year and I always find that the last ...

Re: Advice needed

Hi guys, Thanks for both of your feedback. I went to the dealer again today and had a play on the GC1 the C2M and C3M. I have come to the conclusion that the big jump upwards is the C3. The sound is a different ballpark then the other 2, so is the price tag  I do think that if I upgrade the C3 ...

Re: Advice needed

Hi Chris , thanks for your reply. When I mean thin I mean it is hard and sharp, high in frequency, not with a full body, a little bit unpleasant. My room has laminate flooring (very lively) so I already bought a big thick rug under the piano, this improved it in some degree (Before it was impossible...

Advice needed

Hi guys, I have a question, I currently own a Yamaha GC1 silent, I really enjoy it but I sometimes (depends my mood) find it a bit thin in the treble. I have visited my dealer and played a Yamaha C2 Silent (build 2006) it has never been sold and it played like a gem. My question is as followed, it i...

GC1

hey speedbird, I hope the tech's visit went well and wasn't to expensive, do let me know! As to your question, I have had no problems with my silent system. I have been very pleased with it so far. You are the first on I hear from with a problem on the system so I am quit curious to find out what it...

Your piano was an expensive purchase, I own a GC1 silent, if something went faulty on my piano I would have a qualified technician fix it. Don't try to fix it yourself. You can try to unplug the power and replug it. If that doesnt work try the different reverb modes, look in your manual to see how t...

Exactly!
When I still had my upright I had more complaints from the neighbours , now they sometimes ask if I stopped playing. I then explain them the magic of grand piano physics :D

I am sorry if I got hysterical....
I will control myself and stay behind my grand next time

Go for the upright-unless you live in a concert hall. What? That is such nonsens, I live in a 'normal' house and have space to accomodate a grand piano, the sound is fantastic and it plays wonderfully, far better then any upright. These words can only come out of the mouth from people who c...

Maybe the word 'baby' grand should not be used anymore.
Just 5,3 or 6 ect Grand piano

I don't know were that word comes from any way, there used to be parlor grand, boudoir grand etc..... why baby?

5,3 grand pianos are great!!

I have to disagree, I was facing the same dillema, the Yamaha YUS3 or the Yamaha GC1 (5.3). I played them both many times but came to the concusion that the sound of the GC1 was fuller and rounder and better sounding then the high quality upright. The touch is different, superiour on a grand and the...

In happy Yamaha GC1 heaven

Hey guys,

Anyway, I have had my GC1 silent for over a week now, am very pleased with the mellow sound it produces and the action is just marvelous, I will never go back to an upright piano! I think this one will do me for the next 20 years :)

Anyway,
Thanks again for a great forum

Thanks Barrie,

I played again yesterday and decided on the GC1, I think it will keep me happier for longer and will avoid the "one day I'll buy a grand piano " itch.

It will arrive next week! :-)

Cant wait to have it in my house and play on it!!

Yamaha YUS3 versus Yamaha GC1

Hi guys, I need some advice, I hope you can help me. I want to upgrade my Yamaha B1 piano because I want a piano that will stay good enough me for the next 20 years or so. I have been in the shop and I am doubting between the Yamaha YUS3 and Yamaha GC1, the sound of the YUS3 is fantastic, I am amaze...

Hey Bernard,

I was in a bit of the same situation like you only I only played the teachers piano twice and that was it! I found it very difficult to choose as you choose the piano for hopefully a long time! You cannot install MIDI later on a B system, (not without spending lot's of money) they just dont have the...

I assume that it is possible to retrofit the silent system

I really don't know where you guys get the information from but when I put my Yamaha B1 in silent mode it really doesn't 'chop', there is no difference it feels like your playing accousticly! The sound of the sample isnt old and nasty just get yourself a deacent pear of headphones and you have a ver...

Thanks for you comment OPENWOOD and A440 I agree that it doesn't cost Yamaha that much to include the midi and USB. I think you are right by assuming that they do this so people who tend to need it spend more! I think that people who need this option tend to be more professional and have a bigger bu...

Yamaha B1 Silent

I first want to say, great forum, it helped me a lot finding out what I needed to know about buying my piano. I do want to add the following because on my search for information I did find some negative responses on the Yamaha B1 piano which I find not true. I bought my Yamaha B1 silent about 4 mont...
