Dampp Chaser

Once again many thanks. The silica gel seems a nice simple solution which I will try immediately.

I will make further enquiries about dehumidifiers and let you know if I find anything of interest.

Regards

Dampp Chaser

Thanks for the thoughts. I agree a builder's dehumidifier would be disastrous but I gather there are machines designed for art galleries etc. I would still be very interested to hear from anyone who has fitted a chaser to a small grand. In the meantime I will begin heating the room very gently . Tha...

Dampp Chaser

My piano action is starting to squeak and groan after the wettest summer in living memory in Devon (and they can be very wet). I thought about a Dampp Chaser but my tuner says that in his experience they are not very effective on grand pianos. He suggests de-humidifying the room but this will presum...

Glenn Gould's Piano/Chair

I apologise if this has already been discussed but has anyone read the new book on GG and his piano: A Romance on Three Legs: Glenn Gould's Obsessive Quest for the Perfect Piano by Katie Hafner There is a picture of a chair and piano on the cover shown here at Amazon which may or may not be "th...

Danemann soundboard screws

If you mean the very small things on the keyboard side of the bridge I am sorry to say they are not feature of my piano. Not being a techie I have no idea what they might be. Can you get someone suitably qualified and experienced to look at it for you? I should add that I am very happy with the tone...

Danemann soundboard screws

I have a small Danemann grand. If you post a picture I will compare it with my instrument for you and report back.

Ho Ho!
Only two cheers however because if this lady's first language is not English she may miss the joke (joke?) about the wallpaper.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will call the local grammar school which has a good music department. The link to the discussion of Danemann pianos was most encouraging but I confess I am sorely tempted by the thought of some serious retail therapy! Does the C2M meet with general approbation? Regards ...

Recondition or purchase a new piano

I have been lurking around the forum for some weeks and have been impressed by the breadth and depth of knowledge of the regular, professional contributors. I would therefore welcome some advice from the forum about my piano. I have a Danemann 5’3” “boudoir” grand serial number 94444. I purchased th...
