Re: Upright Suggestions £1500
A certain gentleman near Oxford would be very high ion my list. MV I have no idea what dealer you are talking about BUT we had a customer in our area ring us 6 weeks ago who had bought a Kemble from a dealer in the Oxford area. No tuning included and when he had a problem 4 weeks after delivery he ...

As for the secondhand reconditioned market, let's hope that standards can improve. A decent used instrument may at last be valued for what it is rather than how fashionable. Hopefully the oversupply of crap old U1s will fall off and if the wa**ers from outside the legitimate trade who peddle them d...

I had to work on a Steinway grand belonging to a Saudi royal, that was covered in green malachite and gold cherubs,[ I believe there were only three made] It weighed a 'ton', and I suppose if it was damaged you'd have to call in a lapidary rather than a polisher! That would be like the one on...

Re: Samick Grand NSG 186
My concern is that the soundboard may have hidden damage, and this piano retailer will not allow a piano tech inspection. I think that probably tells you all you need to know. I suppose like any thing it depends on the price and if you are prepared to take a gamble. Whats the guarantee. Is the busi...

Sorry by key drop I meant the key goes down when pressed with a finger before the hammer starts to move. NOT the keys drop when the pedal is pressed. That I could expect on a cheepie chinese piano not a Kemble. Either way dont panic its sortable and you have a good piano. The rail should move about ...

The soft pedal works by moving the hammer rest rail towards the strings there for allowing less momentum when you press the key as it has to drop 3-4mm before the hammer starts to move. Some pianos it works, some it doesnt work that well. Ive got the same piano in stock as you ave and it works ok. Y...

Are these rogue dealers trained techs gone bad or just crooks who have decided the piano trade is the one for them. Go with the Kembles, similar kit to the Yams but nicer. Plus if you sell as a 2nd hand piano the Yam is instantly yet another U3 amongst thousands of some ok some dodgy imports. Where as I think the Kemble will hold its value better. As a dealer I offer rubish money on Yams 2nd hand as I simply dont...

They can do it that cheap as they are using your local dealer as a free showroom. Remember you do risk it you are covered by distance selling regulations ( in the Uk anyway) so if you dont like it when it turns up send it back, I think within 14 days. Ask how they deal with guarantee problems long d...

The difference is the second the car is out of guarantee or 1 mile past service point they laugh at you and tel you where to go. You may get a photo copied guarantee A4 sheet sometimes in a stick on plastic sleve on the back of the case but most of the time not.
