Yeah i realise that PG but half the s/h U1's i've seen are scratched, hammers heavily indented, and just generally scruffy, mine is nearly mint inside and out and sounds far superior to any i've played in the past even comparing to new models. Ahh i see what you mean Barrie, Yeah the Yam does seem to hold it's tuning better especially as it gets moved round the dining room quite a bit and never seems to go out of tune! I'm going to look at the Kawai again on Friday will make up my mind then. Can you tell me what my Yam is worth privately?...

Thanks! yeah i thought that too.. i played the kawai again yesterday in the shop and it really is a superb piano, then i came and played my Yami U1 and that sounds fab too lol.. but there is something about the Kawai, there is more control and feeling and also it is mellower in tone than the Yamaha ...

Thanks Barrie.. I'm going to play the K2 again to make up my mind.. i just found it had a wonderful dynamic range in all registers and much more enjoyable to play than a U1.. my local dealer is selling them discounted after this years welsh eisteddfod event in Mold. Thanks for your advice and help.

W&L

I decided against buying a Wendl in the end, not because they are not good but becasue my local stocker of them wouldn't come down on price so i told him to stuff it, so i got a Yam U1 instead, it sounds good. I'm glad your happy with your W&L they seem to be good piano's.

I can tell you that having just bought my U1 from Dawsons in Chester, their own brand are ****! they look identical to a U1 but what a difference! Far too bright, poor bass, slack action, need I say more ? (soz for the late reply btw!!)

Thanks for that info pianoguy, you really are a knowledgable bunch on here! The piano will be tuned before despatch and then retuned at my house 6 weeks after delivery by my local tuner, paid for by the shop. I did actually notice that the hammers on the C110 didnt have much underfelt if none at all...
