Well I am confused by all this. My piano atlas says 256**** is 1978 and your Yamaha web site says 267**** is 1978. It says 1963 is 23*****.

If the gentleman in question who owns the Yamaha was a customer of mine, I would be telling him his piano was made in 1978.

According to my piano atlas Nippon Gakki Co Ltd Hamamatsu city, Japan. Tel Hamamatsu 65-111
Telex 4225-311,312,,313
comes under the name of Yamaha, and the serial number you give says it was built in 1978.
