My friend Eugene Portman I was delighted to learn in 2005, had made an exceptional jazz pianist (last time I saw him was in 1978!). He has lots of sites and lots of information. I do seem to remember reading about structuring jazz chords and harmonies from one of his links. Better do a Google on him...

:D Well I'll agree with all the comments made here. Let's get it all into perspective: I've just bought a CLP 220, but do you honestly believe that if I had the remote space in which to put an acoustic, where it would not upset my family or neighbours, I would not have done so? If I saw a decent Kem...

If you think what you pay a hairdresser or plumber or anyone who took a couple of years to learn the basics of their craft, it's cheap!! As for frequency of lessons, you wouldn't cope with more than half an hour if you're a beginner - there's only so much that a) you can be taught, and b) you can t...

Hello Diane, I was assuming it was for a Church on the basis of it only being 4 and a half octaves. Thus just being used maybe as an alternative to a harmonium etc. In actual fact it is of a full octave range for that era and make. So I don't believe it was built for Church use specifically. However...

I don't think my Clavinova, Electone or WK3500 give of CO2 emissions do they? (I might do while I'm playing them!) :? Must get back to polishing my two 4x4s now Whilst we are having a laugh, I've just been reading about Yamaha U Series Pianos: advertised as "Designed with the professional in mi...

What an intriguing instrument. I'm looking forward to the experts reply here myself. A 4 and a half octave Broadwood upright. Would it have been made for Church and Chapel use? I can say with authority however that a Broadwood is not firewood! It may not necessarily be worth anything. But someone wo...

Sadly the cheaper the keyboard the less octave range you seem to get. I always suggest the WK as it's 6 octaves. So where next? Casio CTK. These are used to good effect in the popular video based on Kenneth Baker's course, called "The Complete Keyboard Player". Ebay an ideal source possibl...

Once you sort out the translations it'll still cost you 150 Euros to have this delivered & do you reckon all the demo. songs will be Bierkeller? They also do a portable piano for 150 Euros. But this lot will cost you around 500 Euros I believe: Features: 88-Tasten Digital- Piano gewichtete Taste...

Phentermine? I think they had one of those in the old Belle Vue, Manchester. Not a bad piano. Now was it in the Kent, Cumberland, Bavarian Suite or Kings Hall. Too long ago, my memory fails me. I just remember the knackered Bosendorfer Grand with cigarette burns on the keys and dried vomit un...

Sheet music by hearth? Is this a gag that I'm gonna fall for? Fred Hearth's Sonata in B quadruple Sharp for Tuba and Piccolo? Ok then , sheet music by heart. Piano teacher wants you to memorise sheet music? Every rest, every staccato, every semiquaver? Sounds rather un-teacherlike to me. How is this...

Buy yourself a Casio WK 3000/3200/3500/3700. Nice 'Grand Piano Tone' on it using ZPi sound source (whatever that is!). You'll be able to either record onboard or sequence backings for your guitar playing too. It's a HUGE bag of tricks for very little money, and the tonewheel organ voices just have t...

I realise that, as a man, you are easily seduced by bells and whistles on things, but have you considered getting a real piano? You'll get a far better idea of touch and tone- production. As an adult beginner, you'll need application and PATIENCE. And don't be too hard on yourself...no, it won't so...

Some great deals on YDP 131, currently as low as £419 during August. I questioned thoroughly a sales rep of a large UK distributor recently: "What is the YDP 131, - is it a P70 dressed as furniture?" His answer was surprisingly frank - "well yes (and no)" - whatever that meant. B...

You'll probably not be interested now seeing you posted in May, but I bought a Roland half-damper for my P60 a couple of years ago.

Worked nicely. Cost UK then - about £26.
