The number you quote is not a Brinsmead serial number, is the "S" really there? It sounds more like a dealer's stock number. See the articles on Numbers and Datemarks on the PianoGen website, and also the comments below. OOps. It is probably 84659 and Inside it has the word Schwander. The...

Brinsmead piano - 1948?
We have recently inherited a John Brinsmead upright piano. It has the serial No. S4659. Can anyone give me an idea of its age? It is in good condition. Alf
